Welcome to our Pastoral Support page...

Our Pastoral Support Team is made up of:

Miss Emma Mitchell (SENDCo)

Mrs Laura Kettell (Pastoral Support Assistant)

Miss Jo East (Pastoral Support Assistant and school ELSA)

At Hartsholme Academy, we place a strong emphasis on our pastoral care and nurture and aim to work closely with parents/carers, pupils and families to ensure the best support possible can be in place to allow our pupils to be ready to learn! We are always on hand to speak 1:1 about any concerns or queries that you may have from a home or school perspective.

We have our own dedicated room in school for pastoral support which we proudly call, 'More than A room.'  This is where direct work can be carried out with pupils throughout the day, as well as provide a space for discussions with parents.

Our 'Parent Pop -ins' are held every Wednesday in 'More than A Room' from 3.00-4.30pm, where tea and biscuits are always on hand!

Miss East is our trained ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), who can support children by working 1:1 or small group with pupils who may be experiencing a range of social or emotional issues. These can range from low self esteem or self confidence, making or maintaining friendships, supporting with managing emotions, supporting bereavement and much more. School may suggest a referral for ELSA support if concerns raised meet the criteria for referral.

School also work closely with other external agencies such as a behaviour agency and a school counsellor, who visit weekly to support individuals across the school. Again, school can refer into these services where necessary.
